Privacy at The Creature Corner.

The Creature Corner operates this website. The site owner handles moderation and private support requests. You can contact the moderator without signing in, including when you cannot access your account. You can also email llanes@thecreaturecorner.com.

When you sign in, the site uses the identity supplied by the sign-in service to associate your account with your saved records. The website stores your chosen display name and preferences; animal and enclosure profiles; care history and routines; plans, budgets, checklists, supplies and saved guides; and the photographs and contributions you choose to upload. You choose what to enter. Do not include passwords, payment information or sensitive personal information in notebook notes or support requests.

Your notebook and unattached photos are not public. Community drafts are not public. The site owner can access private content when necessary to administer the service, provide support, investigate abuse or perform recovery. When you submit a contribution, the moderator can read its content and attached photos. A contribution becomes public only after approval. Its public author name, writing and attached photos can then be read or copied by visitors. Later draft edits do not replace the approved public version until another review. Withdrawing or deleting a contribution removes its public version from this site; we cannot remove copies already saved or shared elsewhere.

The upload process limits file size, checks supported image formats and removes stored metadata such as common camera or location fields before saving supported images. Photographs may still show identifying details in the image itself. Check the image before sharing it. Photo credits for reference images are listed with the images and on the credits page.

New custom enclosure guide requests require an email address. We store the request, address, timestamps and delivery status privately, and use Resend to send a generic acknowledgment to that address and the full request to the site owner at llanes@thecreaturecorner.com. The owner replies directly by email; no account or saved private link is needed. Your address is used for this request, not marketing. Email addresses are not verified, so check yours before submitting. Website records expire 180 days after their last update and ordinary site maintenance removes expired records. Email correspondence and copies already delivered to inboxes are separate; contact the owner about those copies.

Other support requests and older custom guide requests use a private access link. Those requests contain the category, subject, message, timestamps, status and moderator replies. Anyone with the private link can read the request and add follow-ups. The site stores a hash of its access code; save the link securely because it cannot be recovered if lost. Those records also expire after 180 days without an update. Older custom guide requests can have optional request-only email notices that contain no conversation text or access code. You can stop those notices on the private request page. An email already handed to the provider may still arrive. Other support requests do not send email.

Feedback, contribution reports and review notes are available to the moderator for handling corrections and community concerns. They are not publicly listed as support messages.

Resend sends the website’s automated emails from care@notify.thecreaturecorner.com. Replies go to llanes@thecreaturecorner.com. Firebase handles account-verification and password-reset emails. Daily care reminders require address verification and explicit opt-in. A saved change that enables or pauses reminders can produce one confirmation email. Unsubscribing produces an on-page confirmation without an additional email. First verified account sign-in can send one welcome email. A lifetime onboarding record prevents repeated welcome emails. Reminder preferences and delivery records are separate from notebook backups. A reminder does not record that care was performed. The reminder system removes old message payloads and delivery events after 90 days during scheduled cleanup. Device notifications require a connected background service and permission on each device. The site stores your device registration identifier, chosen device name, category choices and delivery status. Choose daily care, contribution decisions, weekly recaps and content roundups separately for each device. New devices start with every category off; choosing a device category does not change email preferences. Notification text is generic and does not include animal names or care writing. Disconnect devices in reminder settings. Old delivery records are removed after 90 days during scheduled cleanup.

Community emails confirm build or guide submission and communicate saved review decisions. Manage them in email preferences. Weekly care recaps and new-content roundups require separate opt-ins and can each be unsubscribed independently. The site stores the account email, category choices, time zone, opt-in dates and queued message/delivery records. Address changes disable recurring weekly emails until you choose them again. Bounces or complaints pause delivery. Weekly recaps summarize recorded care, not email opens; content roundups use actual new public additions. Email payloads and delivery events are removed after 90 days during scheduled cleanup. Public content entries and current preferences remain until removed or changed. Account removal also removes associated email preferences and queued messages.

The website is hosted through OpenAI Sites using Cloudflare-hosted application and storage services. Sign-in is handled by the configured identity provider. These providers may process connection and service information under their own privacy notices. The site’s active sign-in screen identifies the provider being used. Runtime secrets and service credentials are kept outside the public website files.

Sign-in uses the identity service’s necessary session mechanisms. The website may keep interface preferences on your device. It has no third-party advertising. Optional Google Analytics stays off until you allow it below; your choice is stored in this browser. Analytics is limited to public guide and tool usage, with advertising personalization disabled. It does not send notebook writing, account email, support messages or search terms. Security controls count requests to limit spam and excessive traffic. Raw network addresses are not stored in the application’s rate-limit table; when available, a keyed hash is used. Expired rate-limit records are cleared during normal traffic. The hosting provider can maintain separate network and security logs.

If you prepare the offline notebook, this browser stores animal and enclosure details, the latest 100 care records and pending observations. Photos are not cached. Pending observations remain local until the website confirms sync. Signing out or switching accounts removes the local notebook; download unsynced writing before signing out. You can remove the copy from the offline notebook page. A disconnected device cannot learn about changes or removal on another device until it reconnects. Browser storage is not a complete backup.

Notebook records remain until you remove them or remove your profile. You can download a complete notebook backup from Settings & backup. Keep downloaded files private; they can contain photos and personal notes. Restoring a personal backup adds private copies and preserves existing records.

Account and privacy provides profile-and-content removal. It removes your active notebook data, contributions, uploaded photos and reminder preferences. Removal cannot be undone. If photo storage is unavailable, the page reports cleanup as pending and offers a way to continue; it does not claim that all files are already gone. A minimal deletion record is retained to prevent old requests or recovery from recreating removed data. Existing service backups or hosting logs can retain older copies according to their recovery and retention settings. We do not claim those independent copies vanish immediately. Your external sign-in provider account is separate.

The Creature Corner is a general audience, family appropriate animal care education and keeper Community. Approved public content can be read without joining. Ordinary online accounts are available from age 13 where legally permitted; guardian approval is conditional, rather than required for every teenager. Account eligibility, photo uploads, posts, comments, replies, public sharing and notifications have separate permissions. Our membership and age policy explains them. Age declarations are not independent proof of age. Historical declarations remain private records and are not a new adult participation requirement. You can choose a public username and optional profile picture. Posts and replies retain the name and picture submitted for review; changing your profile does not change earlier approved contributions. We store submitted posts, replies, captions, helpful and saved marks, blocks, reports and their timestamps. Reports are private to authorized moderators.

Before ordinary account creation, the account screen checks your birth month and year and country/state. If your birthday is this month, you may supply the day for an exact threshold check. Birth month, year and day are not stored. We retain the resulting age group, minimized age-threshold evidence, private jurisdiction, policy and applicability versions, decision revision and approval or restriction timestamps. Ordinary online accounts are not offered under age 13 at this launch. Public approved educational and Community content and the app’s device-local notebook remain available without creating an account where permitted.

People aged 13 through 17 do not need guardian approval solely because they are teenagers. When an applicable jurisdiction or native platform requires additional approval, the account screen identifies the needed step. Existing guardian-managed access, withdrawal, restrictions and deletion requests do not silently become ordinary permission because a policy changed. An owner must review a transition where required. Unsupported or legally unresolved required branches stay unavailable while ordinary eligible branches remain separate.

Guardian infrastructure is retained for required branches. An email link establishes mailbox control plus the adult and guardian declarations; it does not independently verify adult identity or guardianship. A required verified method cannot be replaced by that declaration. The notice identifies online records and public-sharing purposes. A private management link allows permission withdrawal or an account deletion request. Withdrawal stops the affected permissions and hides contributions whose public-sharing authority is no longer current; it does not itself erase private records. Deletion requests go to the human owners for completion. Previously downloaded copies remain separate. Verified provider parent controls are not represented as available when that integration is unavailable.

Guardian request addresses and private-link payloads are removed after delivery, expiry or cancellation. Hashes of private review and management codes remain with the approval record. Keep capability links private. Account exports and removal include access records. Service recovery preserves withdrawals and restrictions and cannot reactivate old guardian emails. Apple and Google age or approval observations apply to the requesting app and its applicable actions. They are not universal website consent or a website age restriction. Required native features need genuine platform/provider acceptance before activation.

Providing a public profile, uploading a photo and sending private contact information are optional actions subject to current permissions. Email and push capabilities do not subscribe you; their separate verification, device permission and category opt-ins still apply. A restricted account can still access recovery, export/removal, reporting and authenticated safety blocking. A parent or guardian can contact llanes@thecreaturecorner.com about a child’s account privacy request without obtaining a Community account.

Submitted Community posts and replies can be reviewed by the owners, appointed Community moderators, and Burt, an automated moderator running in OpenAI ChatGPT. Burt may approve and publish or reject a submitted revision; the owners can correct those decisions. Uncertain or uninspectable submissions stay pending for the owners. Submitted text, public author details, attached photos and review history may be processed through ChatGPT for this purpose, under the applicable OpenAI service privacy and retention settings. We do not promise zero provider retention. Burt does not have site-administration permission or access to other members' private notebooks or private support requests.

We keep private revision history with submitted content and photo references, review status, reasons, reviewer type and timestamps. Initial unsubmitted drafts are not copied into that history. Existing records show only the version available when history began. Deleting the source submission removes its history; account removal anonymizes reviewer attribution on other retained records. Community exports include your own records and history without internal reviewer identifiers, and image references rather than image files. Community moderator appointments and revocations are recorded with the reason and date; owners control that access.

The app keeps animal and enclosure records, routines, care logs, settings and local drafts on your phone. Signing in to Community does not upload or synchronize that notebook with the website notebook. Device backup services may copy app data according to your settings. Care reminders use local notification permissions and do not record completion of care.

The system photo picker lets you choose individual pictures. Pet pictures are resized and stored locally; replacing or removing one can leave an earlier local copy for recovery. Community attachments and profile pictures are uploaded only when you choose to upload them. An uploaded profile picture becomes public when a contribution containing it is approved; changing it does not remove earlier approved copies. Keep your original photos.

The app uses Firebase for registration, email verification and sign-in, and operating-system secure storage for sign-in credentials. Notebook backups contain local records and image references, not credentials, image files or shared Community records. Restoring a phone backup replaces local records after confirmation and retains the prior notebook as a recovery copy until a later restore. Exports use your device's save/share controls; the selected recipient receives the file. Temporary export files can remain in the app cache until later cleanup. Verify that the destination received your file.

Online account removal does not erase the local phone notebook, reminders, gallery originals or exported copies. Manage those separately. Interrupted online photo cleanup may need to resume. If deletion of the Firebase identity cannot be confirmed, the app reports that uncertainty.

Use a private support request for questions about access, removal or how your information is used. Requests involving account ownership need verification before the moderator can act. We update this notice when the website’s actual data practices change.
